Halley's Progress (Online Diary)

May/June 2002

Here is the update on Halley's progress for May and June 2002:

Well, after only having one treatment on the Cranial-Sacral Therapy, about 3-4 days afterward it seemed as though Halley was a bit whiny, nothing so bad I could not handle, I have to say still not as bad as she was over a year ago.
During the actual treatment, she rubbed her eyes a bit, I thought it must have been putting her to sleep or making her tired, though after the session, she had a TON of energy. A week after the therapy session, she developed a cold, and an infection in her eyes, similar to pink eye, but it went away by itself. I do not know if it had anything to do with the therapy, or just a side effect of pre-school.....
About 2-3 weeks after the first session, I noticed her trying a bit more to verbally communicate, she seems more mature. She looks forward to speech therapy with her therapist, even waits on those days for her ST, asking her teachers--"Where Pauba?" It is sad to see her move away from her therapist, as she has seen her since two. Now I am trying to schedule another CST appointment, and am not sure if the CST is the reason for the boost in speech and attitude, but it sure did not hurt. She actually sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star with me the other night, her tune was close, making pitches in her voice as the song went on. I just started laughing, and it turned into tears as we sang the song together. For the absolute first time, we sang together. She is starting to say yeah instead of nay for yes. She has done it 3 times now, and I think I will actually miss her saying nay for yes, but regardless it is still progress. She is saying sentences now, and most of the words are understandable to me. My baby is learning to talk, and it makes me so happy. We have such a long way to go, and the improvement of her attitude alone is great!
